Job Requirements

  • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance
  • Valid California driver's license
  • TB clearance
  • Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier
  • Fire and Safety Training
  • Crisis Prevention Institute training (CPI)

Job Qualifications

  • One year cooking experience in fast food
  • Two years cooking experience, preferably in a health care setting
  • Cooking skills training certificate
  • High school graduate or G.E.D.

Job Duties

  • Utilizes hairnets, aprons, gloves and washes hands frequently
  • Unlock or lock kitchen doors
  • Record the temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, food and steam table
  • Utilizes steam table, ovens, grill, toasters, deep fryers and electrical equipment
  • Prepare and serve designed foods for shift and read the menus
  • Start tray line within established time frame, limit talking business, serve proper portions per established guidelines, garnish appropriately per policy, prepare food and sack lunches for Satellite, RRC, and Shelter
  • Answer questions regarding day to day work, resolve routine problems and questions, seek additional tasks during slow time
  • Maintain work area in a sanitary fashion
  • Prepare late tray, wash pots, sweep and mop the kitchen floors
  • Store leftovers with label and date
  • Receive supplies, check menus for next day and pull product appropriately
  • Assist Food Service Worker with soiled dishes and food carts
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others
  • Clock in and out per policy and procedure, attend work as scheduled
  • Attend meetings and in-service as directed
  • Practice grooming standards per dress code
