Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- One year of food service experience preferred
- Food Handlers Card (FH) - VA State ANSI-approved food handlers certificate program within 30 days required

- Competency in operating dish machines and kitchen sanitation equipment
Job Duties
- Ensures all service ware are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each meal and in a timely manner
- Demonstrates knowledge and competency in using the dish machine and three-compartment sink
- Completes proper setup, breakdown, and cleaning of dish machine and kitchen equipment
- Handles service ware carefully to minimize loss and damage and alerts management about damaged items
- Accurately documents dish machine and pot sink sanitizing temperatures and alerts management when standards fall below regulatory requirements
- Delivers patient trays to nursing units within established time limits to minimize temperature loss
- Uses time effectively and assists other workers during heavy workloads
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with patients, families, and internal customers
- Follows FIFO inventory practices to rotate, label, and date products according to policy
- Monitors food storage temperatures and quality and reports discrepancies
- Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of cleaning chemicals and supplies ensuring safety
- Performs cleaning duties thoroughly and timely in compliance with Infection Control Standards
- Removes kitchen trash periodically ensuring cleanliness of bins
- Sweeps and cleans floors throughout and at the end of shifts
- Uses wet floor signs during cleaning processes
- Ensures all tasks are completed before the end of shift and alerts supervisor if unable to complete tasks
