Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Food Service Manager certificate from the State of Florida
  • Minimum of two years of institutional food service experience
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • Successful completion of background and drug screening
  • Ability to pass criminal background checks including sex offender check
  • Valid driver’s license if required
  • Ability to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations
  • Willingness to work in a secure juvenile justice environment

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of institutional food service experience
  • Current Food Service Manager certificate from the State of Florida
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • Experience working in an institution or jail setting
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and nutritional standards
  • Ability to plan menus and manage food service operations effectively

Job Duties

  • Plan menus and food utilization based on anticipated number of guests nutritional value palatability popularity and costs
  • Organize and direct worker training programs resolve personnel problems hire new staff and evaluate employee performance
  • Coordinate assignments of cooking personnel to ensure economical use of food and timely preparation
  • Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation serving and building maintenance
  • Monitor food preparation methods size of portions garnishing and presentation to ensure proper standards
  • Monitor budget payroll records and review financial transactions to ensure expenditures are authorized and budgeted
  • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality service or accommodations
  • Review menus and analyze recipes to determine labor and overhead costs and assign prices to menu items
  • Establish and enforce nutrition standards for the dining establishment
  • Keep records required by government agencies regarding sanitation and food subsidies
  • Test cooked food for palatability and flavor conformity
  • Create specialty dishes and develop recipes for the dining facility
