Job Duties

  • assist cook/manager in preparing and cooking entrees and main dishes
  • prepare salads and other foods
  • season, mix, chop, slice, and assemble foods and food ingredients
  • operate a cash register
  • fill out daily work sheets and sell and collect lunch tickets
  • keep records and reports
  • set up and operate dishwashers, stoves, ovens, mixers, and other kitchen equipment
  • wash dishes, utensils, pots and pans, trays, serving compartments, and other serving equipment
  • assist on serving lines set out prepared foods, dispense foods in proper proportions, keep food or tray counts
  • store foods, rotate stock in storage areas
  • assist in the receipt of food orders, assist with inventories
  • restock condiments, food items, and paper goods before, during, and between servings
  • observe safe and sanitary procedures and practices
  • assign and direct other workers
  • may supervise and be responsible for the cafeteria operation in the absence of the cook/manager
  • supervise students in cafetorium
  • clean tables
