Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of institutional or commercial food preparation experience
  • Food Safety Manager Certification required by the end of the probationary period
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
  • Capability to operate and maintain commercial kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and practices
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights

Job Qualifications

  • One year of institutional or commercial food preparation experience
  • Food Safety Manager Certification required by the end of the probationary period
  • Knowledge of USDA School Nutrition Program requirements
  • Ability to follow HACCP guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment
  • Strong attention to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook, and bake meals using fresh ingredients in compliance with USDA School Nutrition Program requirements
  • Follow standardized menus, recipes, HACCP guidelines, and District food safety procedures
  • Adjust and scale recipes
  • forecast food quantities to minimize waste
  • Receive, inspect, label, rotate, and store food using FIFO practices
  • Operate and maintain commercial kitchen equipment safely
  • Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen facilities and equipment
  • Monitor food temperatures and maintain required production records
  • Assist and train food service staff and substitutes as needed
  • Prepare vegetables, salads, sandwiches, fruits, and serve meals
  • Use Point of Sale (POS) systems to serve and record meals
  • Serve as backup to the Kitchen Production Manager as assigned
