Job Requirements
- One year food service experience
- ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of common diet modifications
- one year experience as a cook in hospital food service or restaurant
- ServSafe certification preferred
Job Duties
- Prepares various types of hot foods, baked items, sandwiches, and other short order items following production sheets and approved recipes
- prepares modified diet foods for all outlets
- performs various types of cooking and baking operations using such standard kitchen equipment as stoves, ovens, broilers, and microwave ovens
- ensures that food is prepared using proper quality control (HACCP) and sanitation standards, and in sufficient quantities to minimize waste
- distributes food to appropriate locations
- ability to work well independently given proper directions
- cleans and maintains standard kitchen equipment used in food preparation
- ensures that food preparation area is properly cleaned and sanitized
- ensures that leftover foods are properly labeled dated and stored properly
- completes food temperature checks utilizing taste and temperature logs
- practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to manager
