Job Description

Job Requirements

  • One year food service experience
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of common diet modifications
  • One year experience as a Cook in Hospital Food Service or restaurant
  • ServSafe certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares various types of hot foods, baked items, sandwiches, and other short order items following production sheets and approved recipes, and prepares modified diet foods for all outlets
  • Performs various types of cooking and baking operations using such standard kitchen equipment as stoves, ovens, broilers, and microwave ovens
  • Ensures that food is prepared using proper quality control (HACCP) and sanitation standards, and in sufficient quantities to minimize waste
  • Distributes food to appropriate locations
  • Ability to work well independently given proper directions
  • Cleans and maintains standard kitchen equipment used in food preparation
  • Ensures that food preparation area is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Ensures that leftover foods are properly labeled dated and stored properly
  • Completes food temperature checks utilizing taste and temperature logs
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Manager
