Job Requirements

  • One year of experience as a line cook, prep cook or breakfast cook in a food service setting
  • Experience working with seniors is preferred but not required
  • 18 years of age or over
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with residents and coworkers whose primary language is English
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure quality with minimum waste
  • Reviews food menus and work orders to determine the type and quantities of food to be prepared and to identify all foods required for therapeutic diets before preparation
  • Preps, measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes
  • Assists driver with preparation of meals and loading and unloading of items for delivery
  • Portions and arrange food and distribute to waitstaff to be served
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
  • Labels and dates all food items in accordance with food storage chart
