The Food Service Cook role at True North is an integral position within the Operations department. Reporting directly to Store Management, this non-exempt position centers on preparing, cooking, and presenting food items in alignment with company recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines. The role emphasizes not only culinary skills but also customer service, cleanliness, and operational support. Food Service Cooks are responsible for managing multiple aspects of food preparation and service including inventory rotation, adherence to sanitation standards, and supporting high-volume periods through flexible responsibilities such as covering Customer Service Representative duties when necessary.

This position demands a proactive, attentive individual capable of maintaining strict food safety compliance while delivering prompt and courteous service to customers. Tasks include accurately processing transactions, promoting customer loyalty programs, assisting in store upkeep, and responding to operational needs promptly and efficiently. The Food Service Cook is expected to be adaptable, working flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of a fast-paced convenience store environment. Physical stamina is required due to the need to stand for prolonged periods, perform repetitive motions, and occasionally lift moderate weights.

  • ability to operate point of sale, store, and car wash equipment
  • ability to follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • maintain proper uniform standards while on duty
  • must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • must be able to cover KKC kitchen shifts as needed
  • must meet the minimum age requirements for selling alcohol in the state in which the position is located

Job Qualifications

  • Basic reading, writing and math skills

  • must be able to cover KKC kitchen shifts as needed

  • prior customer service or cashier experience preferred
  • previous experience operating fryers and ovens preferred but not required
  • prior work experience as a Kitchen Lead or Line Cook
  • familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
  • experience in restaurants or food service is preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook, and serve food items in accordance with company standards and food safety requirements
  • provide prompt, courteous customer service in accordance with company standards
  • accurately process customer transactions using point-of-sale systems
  • maintain a clean, safe, and organized food service and store environment
  • perform assigned food service tasks following food safety and sanitation requirements
  • perform interior and exterior store duties necessary to support daily operations
  • follow all standard kitchen procedures and preparation methods as outlined by SOPs and management
  • preform Customer Service Representative duties, including customer service, register operation, and store upkeep, as operationally needed
