Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Two to three years of previous quantity food preparation experience
- Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide in relation to forecasting and recipe adjustment
- Successful completion of ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Course
- Successful completion of EVSC Cook's Training class
- Maintain a 90 percent attendance rate
- Ability to perform duties and communicate in a noisy environment
- Maintain appropriate levels of personal hygiene and sanitation
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Work schedule of 40 weeks per year, 5 days per week, 7 hours per day
- Ability to stand for long periods and bend or twist at the neck and trunk
- Ability to work with electrical and gas appliances
- Ability to maintain positive and dependable work ethic
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED

- Member of the School Nutrition Association is highly desirable
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents and school staff
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately using units of money, weight and volume measurement
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Job Duties
- Prepares and maintains quality nutritious food
- Forecasts amounts of food needed and keeps serving line supplied in a timely manner
- Proactively reacts to changes in food production needs
- Practices safe food handling
- Uses preparation equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Cleans and maintains preparation equipment
- Understands basic meal planning principles
- Maintains accurate food production records
- Receives food and supply orders according to approved guidelines
- Participates in good inventory control
- Aids manager in the ordering of food and supplies
- Assists in the training of serving and food preparation food service assistants
- Maintains regular attendance
