Royal Oaks is a distinguished retirement community located on a sprawling 52-acre campus, catering to over 700 residents across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. Boasting a team of approximately 400 employees, Royal Oaks serves more than 1,300 meals daily across twelve diverse dining venues, including Café Grill Dining, Casual Dining, Buffet Dining, and High-End Scale Dining. Job Requirements
- Knowledge of Maricopa County food regulations and sanitation requirements
- Ability to listen to instructions and follow directions
- Organized and able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations
- Ability to complete training on computer or other devices
- Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of industry advances and new technologies
- Obtain Maricopa County food handler's card within 30 days of employment
- If driving duties apply, possess a valid driver's license meeting insurance criteria
- Able to carry, lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to operate a fire extinguisher if needed
- Ability to assist in evacuation procedures
- Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Minimum two years experience working in a high-volume restaurant (excluding fast food)
- Minimum one year experience working on a cook's line in a high-volume restaurant
- At least two years experience with basic knife skills
- Minimum two years experience in high volume prep cooking duties including cutting and chopping meats, fish, fruits and vegetables
- Ability to effectively communicate in English with staff, residents, and guests
Job Duties
- Know cooking temperatures
- Work on the line preparing, cooking and plating foods according to kitchen manual and chef directions
- Prepare food including cutting, peeling, chopping and slicing fruits and vegetables and meats and fish
- Use various cooking techniques such as baking, broiling, frying, grilling, steaming, braising, boiling, and pressure cooking
- Check food cooking and holding temperatures regularly and ensure proper food storage
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and utensils
- Provide staff with information on taste, nutrient content, and preparation of daily menu items
