Job Requirements

  • Must hold valid Deschutes County Food Handlers Card
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift 1-10 pounds frequently, lift 11-25 pounds occasionally, and lift up to 50 pounds rarely
  • Ability to work in wet/slippery conditions
  • Ability to follow Oregon Food Sanitation standards
  • Ability to work variable shifts including relief and days
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Willingness to comply with organizational policies and confidentiality requirements
  • Ability to carry out assigned cleaning and sanitizing duties thoroughly

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid Deschutes County Food Handlers Card required
  • ServSafe Manager Certification preferred
  • Previous experience in a food handling environment preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to interact with a diverse population professionally
  • Strong team working and collaborative skills
  • Basic to intermediate computer literacy, including email and MS Office applications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment maintaining attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Washes dishes, glassware, flatware, kitchen equipment/utensils, pots, and/or pans using commercial dishwashers or by hand
  • Restocks all clean dishes and equipment once they are sanitized
  • Retrieves used food trays and carts from patient care areas throughout shift as scheduled
  • Completes all assigned opening/closing procedures and check-lists
  • Maintains kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition
  • Performs routine and deep cleaning of kitchen floors, mats, walls, cooking equipment, carts, ceilings and other kitchen or food service equipment
  • Uses various chemicals to clean and sanitize kitchen facilities including deep cleaning of equipment, floor mats, dishwashing machine, floors, carts, refrigerators, and counters
  • Cleans garbage cans and sorts and removes waste and recycling
  • Sweeps and scrubs floors
  • Provides support to other areas of food services as directed by manager, supervisor or coordinator including delivery of food to patients, as needed
  • Supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects
  • Maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests
  • Conducts all activities professionally and confidentially
  • Complies with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Delivers customer service and/or patient care effectively and efficiently
  • May perform additional duties of similar complexity as assigned
