Job Requirements
- Must be at least sixteen years of age
- Must possess Deschutes County Food Handlers Card
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Ability to interact positively and professionally with coworkers, hospital staff, patients, and visitors
- Willingness to learn different areas of food service operations
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation standards
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work under stress and maintain attention to detail
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in food service, barista, or customer service roles preferred
- Experience in cash handling preferred
- Ability to operate espresso machines and prepare specialty coffee drinks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
- Strong team collaboration skills
- Basic to intermediate computer application skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety practices
- Familiarity with HACCP guidelines
- Ability to provide high-quality customer service in a fast-paced environment
Job Duties
- Prepares food products and beverages in accordance with safe food handling guidelines
- Ensures customer requests are met for special request items
- Operates espresso machine and prepares specialty hot beverages
- Provides excellent customer service and makes product recommendations
- Stocks and maintains cleanliness of café or deli areas
- Performs light cooking at grill, sandwich/salad bars, or kitchen areas
- Assists in catering events as server, bartender, or dishwasher as assigned
- Assembles and delivers patient trays ensuring accuracy and dietary compliance
- Follows isolation precautions in food delivery
- Cleans dishes, kitchen equipment, floors, and food service areas
- Sorts and removes trash
- Completes opening and closing procedures and checklists
- Maintains compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
- Supports food services in various areas as directed
- Promotes a safe working environment and supports organizational values
- Participates in continuous improvement practices
- Conducts all duties with professionalism and confidentiality
