Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- six months food service experience preferred
- ServSafe certificate preferred
- adhere to company guidelines regarding COVID compliance
- dress code including black pants and long-sleeved black chef jacket
- footwear must be slip proof and water resistant or waterproof
- schedule availability from 11 am to 7:30 pm
- ability to perform tasks safely and adhere to departmental safety rules
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- six months food service experience preferred
- ServSafe certificate preferred
- equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
- ability to demonstrate quality customer service
- knowledge of diet orders and menu processing
- effective communication skills
- proficiency in infection control and safety practices
Job Duties
- Serve therapeutically correct trays to patients
- process diet orders
- collect patient menu selections
- adjust patient menus according to diet orders and diet reference manual
- process menu for trayline
- demonstrate outstanding customer service
- greet patients, visitors, customers, and co-workers with a smile and pleasant manner
- check meal report diet orders and changes against patient trays
- clarify conflicting orders with nursing
- make dietary modifications and age-specific adjustments following guidelines
- prepare trays for new admissions and transferred patients
- serve and collect trays
- perform meal rounds to monitor patient satisfaction
- explain menu process using Nutrition Scripts
- review and adjust patient menus as needed
- calculate fluid allowance and prepare trays with fluid restrictions
- calculate and deliver patient tube feeding formulas
- monitor patients with intake changes and report nutritional concerns
- report patient tolerance to nutritional supplements
- maintain cleanliness of pantry area
- deliver meals using current meal delivery system
- assemble and serve nourishment/snack baskets and fill water cups
- inventory, store, and rotate supplies using par system
- thicken liquids to appropriate consistency
- follow infection control procedures
- prepare and serve early, late, and test diet trays
- communicate food service/nutrition problems to manager and dietitians
- check and report equipment temperatures and problems
- participate in Patient Satisfaction Committee meetings
- perform work safely and adhere to safety rules
- assemble patient meals accurately
- operate dish machine and pot washing area
- maintain frequent contacts with nursing, patients, visitors, dietitians, and other staff in processing diet orders and promoting patient satisfaction
