Job Requirements

  • successfully pass FBI fingerprint clearance check and obtain a Level 1 fingerprint clearance card prior to or within 30 days of hire
  • successful clearance of criminal background check(s) and CBC background check through Central Registry in Arizona prior to or within 30 days of hire
  • must be at least 21 years old
  • must have a valid driver license in effect for at least 3 years, meet the insurability requirements of GAP Ministries and provide a 60-month safe driving record (MVR) from Department of Motor Vehicles
  • must pass mandatory tuberculosis and drug screen as required by GAP Ministries and/or appropriate licensing authority if requested
  • agree to flexible hours, support the ministry as needed, flexibility and reliability are critical
  • be able to perform various physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • lift and/or carry bags/boxes with and without assistance
  • kneel, bend, stoop and lift freely without risk of injury as needed
  • required standing for extensive periods of time
  • obtain a SERV safe manager certification prior to or within 30 days of hire

  • have the ability to stay calm in tense situations and use common sense and logic

Job Duties

  • follow GAP kitchens standard operating procedures for the position
  • sort, wash, rinse and sanitize dirty dishes, glass, tableware and other cooking utensils
  • sort and stack clean dishes, place them upside down when applicable in their designated location(s), or where they are stored
  • wash pots, pans, and trays by hand (manually)
  • remove trash and garbage to the dumpster/recycle or compactor
  • set-up and break-down dishwashing area
  • ensure proper temperature and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of the sinks are maintained and recorded as per the SOP
  • fill/empty soak tubs with cleaning and sanitizing solutions
  • sweep/mop floors
  • clean fridges, freezers, food storage containers as requested or needed
  • deliver meals as requested by the chef/sous chef including all meal periods and catering events
  • assist with the setup, monitoring and breakdown of catering events as requested
  • motivate and assist in leading volunteers, students and co-workers to promote a positive environment
  • represent GAP to the public in a positive, professional and responsible manner
  • teach students how to properly perform tasks as outlined by the chef/sous chef
  • personally grow in leadership and spiritual life, including conducting yourself professionally and ethically
  • follow the agency chain of command in a responsible and supportive manner
  • be able to accept constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement
  • assist with prep work as needed
  • provide input on annual reviews for self, manager, and peers
  • perform other appropriate tasks as assigned or requested by management
