Job Requirements
- Sufficient education to perform tasks requiring mathematical computation, money change and comprehension of written instructions
- Any combination of experience and training demonstrating possession of the requisite abilities
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Oregon Food Handlers Card
- Ability to perform safe lifting techniques including bending and lifting up to 50 pounds infrequently and up to 25 pounds routinely
- Ability to stoop, twist, bend, reach, and grasp frequently
- Ability to do simple arithmetic computations, counts, calculations and money changes
- Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to use basic technology for email, time reporting, scheduling, and related tasks
- Ability to understand and apply safety and health regulations for school food preparation and dishwashing equipment use
- Ability to adapt to work routines and work independently without direct supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, coworkers, supervisors, and vendors
- Ability to learn and apply state and federal government requirements regarding meal serving quantities and nutritional components
- Ability to stand for long periods on hard surfaced floors
- Ability to maintain good personal hygiene
- Ability to maintain appropriate and legal confidentiality regarding students and staff
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and prompt attendance
Job Qualifications
- Sufficient education to perform mathematical computations, money change and comprehension of written instructions
- Any combination of experience and training demonstrating possession of required abilities
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Oregon Food Handlers Card
- Experience in institutional food service preferred
- Multicultural experience and bilingual proficiency in world languages preferred
Job Duties
- Assemble meals and à la carte servings such as sandwiches, salads, and pizzas
- Clean and slice fresh fruits and vegetables to appropriate portions
- Heat prepared foods such as soup, potato wedges, burritos, and omelets
- Set up and prepare serving areas
- Clean and sanitize kitchen and eating areas throughout service day
- Wash, sanitize, dry, and put away dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment
- Sweep and mop kitchen or other serving and food storage area floors
- Load, unload, stock, and store food and cleaning supplies
- Fill dispensers and set out milk, beverages, trays, napkins, straws, condiments, silverware, and plates
- Serve proper portion of each item, take food and equipment temperatures, and maintain operational logs
- Assist with point of sale and recording daily totals of items sold
- Assist in training new employees, substitutes, temporary positions, and student helpers
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance
- Perform other related duties as assigned
