Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • at least 1 year of food handling experience preferred
  • completion of Food Service Handler training within 3 months of hire
  • ability to communicate in English
  • ability to count accurately and perform basic math
  • physical ability to stand for long periods
  • ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
  • willingness to work flexible hours including holidays, nights, and weekends
  • ability to safely use kitchen equipment
  • ability to push wheeled equipment and deliver food carts
  • adherence to safety and sanitation protocols

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, High School enrolled or GED
  • minimum of 1 year previous food handling experience preferred
  • Food Service Handler training within 3 months of hire
  • ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Job Duties

  • Completing all duties listed on the job routine
  • working in patient, retail, and catering areas
  • performing sanitation duties
  • determining and removing spoiled food items from service
  • maintaining and stocking assigned areas
  • preparing, expediting, delivering, and retrieving patient trays
  • preparing and delivering nourishments and floor stock
  • assisting with patient food orders
  • serving cafeteria customers and handling POS transactions
  • wiping tables and restocking service stations
  • preparing specialty beverages
  • following standardized recipes, production standards, and food safety processes
  • working in dish room/pot and pan areas
  • assisting with catering orders and event setup and cleanup
  • maintaining cleanliness of department including equipment and floors
  • following task flows and reporting deviations
  • practicing safety and sanitation techniques meeting department and regulatory requirements
  • utilizing chemicals according to guidelines
  • practicing hand hygiene and safety in patient rooms and department
  • using correct body mechanics
  • adhering to proper food handling guidelines
  • observing hospital and department policies
  • attending meetings and trainings
  • managing time effectively
  • participating in process improvement programs
