Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years experience in food safety and kitchen supervision
- at least 1 year experience in a supervisory kitchen role
- valid SERV Safe or equivalent manager certificate
- ability to operate standard kitchen equipment
- strong communication skills
- ability to work flexible hours including events
- ability to manage and lead a team
- detail oriented and organized
Job Qualifications
- Professional training through culinary education or experience in fast-paced fine dining or catering
- 2-3 years of experience in food safety and kitchen supervision
- minimum 1 year supervisory experience in a kitchen
- SERV Safe or equivalent manager certification
- ability to supervise kitchen staff
- skilled in operating standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef knife
- strong communication skills with employees, management and guests
- ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
Job Duties
- Train and supervise kitchen staff on health and sanitation standards
- maintain excellent attendance and work events as scheduled
- coordinate and supervise kitchen staff with focus on food safety and sanitation
- conduct regular written inspections to ensure cleanliness and maintenance
- correct any issues found immediately
- participate in monthly inspections with the university
- maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
- observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking
- manage product receiving and storage
- maintain sanitation and organization of warehouse storage areas
- teach culinary preparation skills and food presentation
- assist in control of food and labor costs
- assist with monthly inventory
- prepare hot and cold foods following company recipes and portion requirements
- report maintenance needs for kitchen equipment
- supervise proper labeling, dating and stocking of supplies
- oversee stocking levels for events and maintain product integrity
- perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance
- conduct daily walkthroughs of storage areas
- serve as opening or closing manager on duty
- oversee and schedule housekeeping employees
- ensure kitchen, dining, bathrooms and outside areas are clean and presentable
