Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous food runner or restaurant experience preferred
  • availability to work weekends and holidays
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • good physical stamina
  • strong communication skills
  • reliable and punctual

Job Duties

  • Maintain verbal communication with chefs to check on the status of dishes and call for waitstaff when food is ready to serve
  • keep staff well-informed and alert the waitstaff when the kitchen is out of a specific ingredient and relay special food requests from the waitstaff to the kitchen
  • monitor portion control of finished dishes ensuring they adhere to restaurant standards
  • meet presentation standards by inspecting every plate to ensure proper garnishes and that dishes are free of smudges and spills before delivery
  • keep kitchen areas clean and orderly, maintaining all cooking, prep, and food storage areas well organized and stocked
  • adhere to sanitation standards ensuring all kitchen and waitstaff follow proper cleanliness protocols
  • assist all staff with food-related tasks including cooking, prepping food, serving plates, and management assistance
  • address customer complaints by serving as a representative for the kitchen staff and finding satisfactory solutions
