The Food Rescue Engagement Manager role is a pivotal position within a well-established community-focused organization dedicated to mitigating food waste and addressing food insecurity throughout Cook County. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in community outreach, donor engagement, or related fields
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with CRM systems preferred
  • Ability to travel within Cook County up to 70% of work time
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Comfortable working in office and warehouse environments
  • Flexible availability for occasional evening and weekend hours
  • Excellent communication skills across multiple channels

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in community outreach, donor engagement, sales, or relevant food industry experience
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with clear, diplomatic communication
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with cross-department collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage workflows and time
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) systems highly desired
  • Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as CERES desired but not required
  • Valid driver’s license and consistent access to a reliable vehicle

Job Duties

  • Manage a portfolio of donors actively engaged in the Community Food Rescue program
  • Perform quarterly stewardship visits to donors to ensure continued engagement
  • Provide store-level and monthly donation reports to donors
  • Train store donation teams on food quality and safety guidelines
  • Develop strong relationships with store teams and corporate leaders
  • Visit lapsed donors to rebuild relationships
  • Maintain a database of prospective donors and develop education strategies
  • Review and analyze donor performance and provide monthly reports
  • Support MealConnect reporting for partner organizations
  • Serve as primary onsite contact at food industry trade shows
  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment and event logistics
  • Collaborate to guide partners through onboarding and training
  • Curate training calendars and optimize training offerings
  • Identify and evaluate partner performance in the program
  • Lead cross-departmental reporting efforts and troubleshoot issues
  • Support Food Sourcing Strategic Plan implementation
  • Manage the Starbucks FoodShare program and coordinate product flow
  • Prepare grant reports in collaboration with the Development team
  • Optimize the Community Food Rescue program to reduce barriers
  • Update CRM tool with insights from ambassadors
  • Deploy Food Rescue Ambassadors strategically
  • Resolve issues between donors and partners
  • Coordinate pickups of ad hoc donations
  • Manage donor and partner records across databases
