Job Requirements
- Food Handler's License
- First Aid Certificate
- physical examination with annual TB test
- pass criminal background and random substance abuse tests
- reliable transportation
- ability to work well with others and around children
- knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures for large-quantity food service
- ability to read and complete forms
- understanding of food temperature requirements and use of thermometers
- effective communication and organizational skills
- proficiency in recipe scaling and yield calculations
- proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends
- valid North Carolina Driver's License
- pass post-offer physical examination
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- three years of professional cooking experience
- ability to perform essential job functions
- computer skills for data entry and record keeping
- knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and equipment
- understanding of nutrition for young children
- ability to manage food storage using FIFO method
- familiarity with public health regulations and safety standards
- effective communication and organizational skills
- proficiency with standardized recipes and temperature control
- proficient with Microsoft Office and related software
- physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- flexible availability including evenings and weekends
Job Duties
- Lead in preparing salads, vegetables, sauces, and other foods
- assist in buyer/data entry, storeroom duties, and frozen meal production
- coordinate preparation of nutritious foods for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children
- monitor temperatures and record pertinent data
- assist with scheduling, menus, and recipes
- oversee food quality and portioning
- requisition daily food and supplies
- assemble menu items for dish-up or distribution
- keep management informed of food preparation irregularities
- complete production sheets
- maintain clean, safe, and hazard-free workstations and equipment
- operate equipment carefully and report malfunctions
- follow safety program procedures and agency policies
- assist in production planning and recipe standardization
- receive incoming goods according to purchasing procedures
- ensure storeroom and refrigeration areas are orderly and stock is rotated
- deliver requisitioned items on schedule
- assist in training Food Production Worker I and II employees
- travel for agency business as needed
- maintain regular attendance and punctuality
- work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- inventory food supplies
- deliver food via agency vehicle when required
- adhere to all personnel policies
- perform other duties as assigned
