Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Work experience in school food service or related food service operation desired
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Driver's license
  • Food safety and sanitation certification preferred
  • Ability to perform moderate physical work including lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Willingness to work in a kitchen environment with risk of burns and cuts
  • Ability to work 5 hour shifts for 169 days total

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment
  • Strong communication skills to engage with students and team members

Job Duties

  • Prepare simple recipes
  • Peel and cut fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Slice meats and craft sandwiches
  • Restock serving lines during busy meal periods
  • Prepare fresh condiments and dressings
  • Maintain knowledge of safety and sanitation practices for food preparation, distribution, and storage
  • Serve school-aged children nourishing meals made from scratch
  • Wash dishes and perform other food service tasks
  • Assist with special diet accommodations
