Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in high volume manufacturing, food production, or catering
- minimum of 5 years cook or food production experience
- ability to manage a staff over 100 hourly employees
- knowledge of HACCP, FDA regulations
- ability to train and supervise employees
- strong leadership and communication skills
- ability to work in a unionized environment
- ability to control food and labor costs
- available to work rotating schedules including over 55 hours per week
- physical ability to stand, bend, lift over 25 pounds for long shifts
- ability to comply with company policies and training
- ability to maintain safety and quality standards
- ServSafe certification or ability to obtain it
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- associates degree or degree from a 4-year university or college preferred
- minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in high volume manufacturing, food production, or catering environment
- minimum of 5 years cook or food production experience
- current or previous labor relations experience is a plus
- strong and effective leadership skills managing large staff
- ability to drive positive program change
- ability to train others
- excellent time management skills
- strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills
- innovative and able to improve work environment and unit performance
- experience with menu design is a plus
- basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred
- ServSafe certified preferred
- ability to obtain ServSafe Certification required
- effective communication skills with management and staff
- bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- ability to provide daily positive and negative feedback to employees
Job Duties
- Ensures quality production standards are followed and maintained
- ensures employees adhere to HACCP, FDA and safety regulations and compliance with company policies and procedures
- controls food cost and other controllable costs
- maintains all financial goals related to productivity, overtime, labor goals and meals per hour
- works with management staff to improve performance of the unit
- prepares administrative reports as required
- responsible for safety, quality and compliance with customer specifications
- ensures specifications, airline diagrams, and sample meals are accurate according to airline specifications
- ensures that all products are coded and dated according to Gate Gourmet procedures
- conducts inventory of products to ensure proper usage and minimization of waste
- completes required requisitions for the storeroom to ensure adequate supply is maintained
- responsible for maintaining daily temperature logs and other logs and reports as required
- supervises employees on daily operations including conducting performance evaluations, ensuring compliance with wage and hour policies, training employees on proper work procedures, monitoring daily manpower planning and scheduling employees
- responsible for employee retention and reducing employee turnover
- responsible for coaching, counseling and preparing corrective actions in compliance with union agreements
- reviews and ensures employees in chain of command are in correct cost centers and job titles
- reviews and ensures union represented employees pay rates are correct based on wage scales and seniority
- ensures completion of all company required training including ServSafe
- complies with all company required policies, procedures and processes
