Job Requirements
- high school diploma or GED
- a minimum of two years of food service experience in an institutional environment
- ability to prepare special diet meals
- knowledge of New York State and New York City Department of Health food safety regulations
- capacity to supervise kitchen operations and maintain cleanliness
- willingness to work evening and weekend shifts
- physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle kitchen equipment
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED
- training in food preparation skills
- at least two years of food service experience in an institutional setting such as a hospital or hotel
- knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation standards
- ability to supervise and instruct others
- understanding of dietary restrictions and medically prescribed meal requirements
Job Duties
- assist in the development and monitoring of nutritious daily menu and meal preparation
- prepare low-fat, salt-free, vegetarian, and soft meal options
- manage and perform food and equipment ordering and inventory
- ensure safe and sanitary handling and storage of all food items
- supervise kitchen area cleanliness, equipment maintenance, utensils, and supplies
- provide instruction and training to inexperienced kitchen staff
- comply with New York State and New York City Department of Health regulations
