Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree
  • valid Virginia driver's license with a responsible driving record
  • experience in institutional food service operations or food distribution
  • knowledge of federal laws related to USDA donated foods programs
  • strong communication skills
  • analytical skills for data analysis and policy recommendation
  • budgeting and financial management experience
  • proficiency with standard computer applications
  • ability to supervise staff and manage program operations

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree in any field as required by the USDA
  • extensive knowledge of institutional food service operations, management, business, or nutrition education
  • experience with USDA donated foods programs and federal regulations
  • excellent oral and written communication skills
  • strong analytical, budgeting, and financial management skills
  • proficiency with computers and standard business applications
  • experience supervising and evaluating staff
  • demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage complex programs

Job Duties

  • oversee the Food Distribution Program staff managing USDA donated foods and funds
  • coordinate food distribution program operations for National School Lunch Program, Summer Food Service Program, Emergency Food Assistance Program, and Commodity Supplemental Food Program
  • manage grant services including audits, reviewing funding requests, and reporting
  • plan, organize, and evaluate program administration and staff performance
  • maintain compliance with federal laws and regulations applicable to USDA food programs
  • communicate effectively with public and management at all levels
  • analyze data to recommend policies and improvements
