Job Description

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) is a government organization dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities across Florida. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs without accommodations
  • Must be able to lift, carry, bend, crouch, reach overhead, stand, and walk on a consistent basis
  • Must be able to do manual dexterity (use of fingers, hands, and arms)
  • Willingness to work beyond normal hours during emergencies
  • Ability to pass Level 2 background screening including fingerprinting
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Completion of candidate profile with verifiable work history required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in food preparation and cooking
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Cook, measure and prepare a variety of food following standard recipes to proper temperature
  • Check temperatures and record on log
  • Check and approve quality of product before cooking or prepping
  • Ensure all food is appealing and appetizing
  • Ensure minimal loss of temperature and quality
  • Ensure food is prepped and leftovers are stored properly and in accordance with departmental guidelines
  • Maintain high level of sanitation in work and storage areas
  • Wear hair nets and gloves at all times
  • Ensure cleanliness while handling food and equipment
  • Clean equipment and utensils
  • Work dish room and pot room as assigned
  • Make daily inventory checks to ensure availability of supplies for menus
  • Work on tray line, employee cafeteria and assist with deliveries as assigned
