Job Requirements
- Must be able and willing to lift up to 50 pounds
- must be able and willing to work weekends and holidays

- Experience as a cook
- experience working in dietary at a long-term care facility preferred
Job Duties
- Ensure that food is stored, prepared, distributed, and served under sanitary conditions
- ensure compliance with state and facility safety procedures in the operation of food production and cleaning of equipment
- maintain clean and sanitary conditions in all kitchen food preparation and serving areas
- operate and maintain kitchen equipment according to Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs procedures
- record temperatures of food and equipment and report any faulty equipment
- check in and properly store incoming stock
- rotate stock in dry storage, refrigerators, and freezers
- ensure all equipment is turned off and doors are locked at the end of the day
- maintain cleanliness and organization of chemical room
- keep soap and paper towel dispensers filled in kitchen and food service restroom
- estimate food requirements and prepare/cook food according to menu and approved recipes in Meal Tracker
- cut, debone, and slice meats according to menu needs
- utilize leftover meat items efficiently
- conduct inventory checks and reorder items falling below minimum on a weekly basis
- plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
- check and approve food requisitions, deliveries, and receiving reports
- attend in-service training and perform related duties as assigned
