Job Requirements

  • must be 18 years of age
  • must be able to stand for extended periods
  • able to lift and stock up to 50 pounds
  • capable of bending, pushing, keyboarding, telephone use and walking
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • high school diploma or equivalent required
  • must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • must comply with health and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a bakery or food service environment preferred
  • leadership or supervisory experience in retail or food service is a plus
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to lead and motivate a team
  • knowledge of bakery product handling and merchandising standards
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • basic math and inventory ordering skills
  • customer service oriented
  • familiarity with health and safety regulations in food service

Job Duties

  • Directing bakery department personnel, meeting department's goals and objectives
  • managing the bakery while the bakery team lead is not on duty
  • communicating directly with the bakery team lead, store director and bakery specialist
  • ordering the supplies and products necessary to maintain adequate stock levels
  • merchandising bakery goods in accordance with bakery merchandising standards
  • executing and supporting all sales and merchandising initiatives
  • serving as the leader of his/her department, role model, coach, performance evaluator and trainer for his/her team
  • ensuring department and team compliance with health department and weights and measures requirements
  • understanding the importance of and monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement as well as the use of product shelf tags and shelf signage
  • keeping a clean, neat and orderly check stand/sales counter and work production areas
  • wrapping, boxing, weighing, slicing, finishing, and stocking bakery department products, rotating them as necessary to ensure quality and safety
  • taking customer orders, ensuring orders are completed on time and to the customer’s satisfaction
  • all other related duties as assigned
