Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of food service experience
- 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
- Serv-Safe certification within 90 days of employment
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and business acumen
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to maintain professionalism and communicate with diverse groups
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance
- Ability to manage and schedule staff
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation including logs and temperature records

- Ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency using departmental computer systems including retail POS, electronic food production systems, and hospital patient dining software
- Knowledge of local health department, state, federal, Joint Commission, and CMS regulatory requirements
Job Duties
- Assists in the development of department goals, objectives, policies and procedures
- Ensures compliance with business unit policies, procedures, and governmental and accreditation regulations
- Assists in the development and recommendation of the department operating budget and manages resources according to approved budget
- Assists in selecting, training, orienting, and assigning department staff
- Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and conducts performance management planning
- Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions
- Maintains ongoing communication with subordinates to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments and exchange information
- Provides daily operational leadership and oversight of the food and nutrition department
- Supervises meal preparation, assembly, and delivery to patients, guests, and associates
- Generates employee schedules and adjusts schedules to cover absenteeism and vacation
- Provides recognition and corrective action for hourly associates to ensure optimal food and nutrition services
- Ensures proper maintenance of departmental daily logs and temperatures
- Participates in rounds with patients and unit staff to ensure quality of food and nutrition services
- Participates in meetings, committees, and represents the department in community outreach efforts
- Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams
- Maintains effective working relationships with other departments
- Performs other duties as assigned
