Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in large-scale cooking and baking
  • Basic math skills for recipe adjustment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work flexible hours in a physically demanding environment
  • Preferably hold California Driver's License
  • Preferably hold ServSafe Certification

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Knowledge of culinary arts and quantity food preparation
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and HACCP protocols
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment
  • Basic math skills including fractions, percentages, and ratios
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions
  • Ability to plan and organize work to meet deadlines

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook large-scale meals according to prescribed menus
  • Prepare foods using approved methods and quantity recipes while complying with nutritional requirements
  • Adjust recipes using basic math skills for meal distribution
  • Estimate quantity of food needed to meet menu requirements
  • Ensure food preparation and serving areas meet cleanliness and sanitary standards
  • Support and guide assigned personnel in food preparation and serving
  • Clean kitchen, utensils, dishes, equipment, storage, food preparation, dining and serving areas
  • May function as Food & Nutrition Services Lead Worker when required
  • Assist in storage and care of foods, supplies and equipment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
