Job Requirements

high school diploma or equivalent
relevant job-related experience preferred
basic math skills including fractions, percent, and ratios
ability to follow complex written and oral instructions
physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
ability to work in temperature extremes
California ServSafe Certification preferred
valid California driver’s license preferred
ability to operate standard office and commercial kitchen equipment
ability to work under general supervision and coordinate tasks effectively

Job Qualifications

high school diploma or equivalent
experience in large-scale cooking and baking
knowledge of HACCP protocols and food safety practices
ability to adjust recipes and calculate quantities
experience operating commercial kitchen equipment
effective communication skills
ability to guide and mentor other staff
basic math proficiency
knowledge of sanitation procedures and health standards
ability to work as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities

Job Duties

prepares and cooks large-scale meals for students and adults
prepares foods using approved methods and quantity recipes
adjusts recipes using basic math
estimates quantity of food needed to meet menu requirements
ensures food preparation and serving areas meet sanitary standards
supports assigned personnel in food preparation and serving
cleans kitchen, utensils, dishes, equipment, and serving areas
may function as lead food service worker when required
assists in storage and care of foods, supplies, and equipment
performs other related duties as assigned
