Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience in restaurant or catering environment
  • Valid food handling certificate or alcohol service permit if required
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Ability to work flexible hours including events
  • Ability to handle cash and perform basic math functions
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance record
  • Ability to maintain sanitation, health and safety standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1-2 years experience in a supervisory role in a fast-paced restaurant or catering environment or applicable education
  • Ability to supervise the work of others
  • Strong communication skills with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management and guests in a clear, respectful manner
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Possession of valid food handling certificate or alcohol service permit as required by state or federal regulations
  • Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly
  • Ability to calculate basic math functions related to POS and inventory

Job Duties

  • Overseeing the serving of meals to guests or directing guests to the buffet line
  • Supervising the service of beverages including alcoholic beverages and verifying guest ID
  • Assisting in recording guest orders and relaying to the kitchen via P.O.S system
  • Observing guests to respond to additional requests and determine meal completion
  • Computing the cost of meals, presenting checks, accepting payments and providing change
  • Ensuring tableware and linens are replaced as necessary
  • Recommending dishes and explaining menu items
  • Supervising banquet function setup including linens, dishware, glassware and silverware
  • Maintaining sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
  • Assuring location equipment is operable and clean prior to events
  • Recognizing and taking action against visibly intoxicated guests
  • Enforcing Ovations policies and procedures
  • Practicing excellent human resources skills including employee relations and completing HR paperwork
  • Assisting management with projects including training, inventory and special events
  • Performing service roles as needed such as serving, event setup, bartending, expo
