Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • 2-4 years experience in food service
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of state and federal health and sanitation regulations
  • Competent in food service and delivery
  • ServeSafe certification preferred

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Provide an enjoyable dining experience and ambiance for residents and guests through exceptional service
  • Supervise dining room staff to ensure proper service and coach team members for consistent execution and exemplary customer service
  • Maintain high standards for food presentation and service
  • Receive and resolve complaints concerning food and service using patience, active listening, and positive communication
  • Manage financial transactions including happy hour, employee meals, vouchers, cash transactions and billing
  • Serve as liaison between dining room and kitchen staff promoting a collaborative team environment
  • Pay attention to appearance, cleanliness, layout, organization and safety of dining room areas and equipment
  • Complete daily inspections and weekly audits to ensure side work and maintenance are completed
  • Conduct pre-meal meetings and communicate information and policy changes
  • Suggest improvements in dining room service procedures and layout
  • Maintain inventory of dining room items and ensure proper cleaning, storage and replacement
  • Update and refine policy and procedure manuals for service staff
  • Confirm completion of open and closing procedures and secure dining room and kitchen
  • Ensure compliance with local and state laws and dining policies related to food, beverage and alcohol service
  • Follow special diets and provide special utensils when needed
  • Report issues or concerns about residents to nursing staff or food service management
  • Cross-train to cover duties for other housing locations and cover other dining rooms as needed
  • Support and participate in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement activities
  • Assist with special events, celebrations and projects
  • Perform other assignments as required by Dining management
  • Work every other weekend, holidays and special events as assigned
  • Coordinate the work of assigned employees and communicate work instructions
  • Act as primary contact for routine issues and perform work alongside subordinates when necessary
  • Approve schedules ensuring optimal personnel utilization
  • Provide technical training and assistance on equipment and procedures
  • Provide input on employee performance and alert manager to issues
  • Promote and model culture of service excellence
  • Create and maintain collaborative relationships using active listening and open communication
  • Use communication and critical thinking skills for conflict resolution, problem solving, and coaching
