Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in hotel food and beverage management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and office software
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and health regulations
  • Familiarity with local liquor laws
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle guest and employee concerns effectively
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills
  • Must attend mandatory hotel meetings and trainings
  • Flexibility to work long hours when needed
  • Commitment to punctuality and attendance standards
  • Must maintain professional appearance and grooming
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to maintain a courteous and service-oriented attitude

Job Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field or a 4-year college degree with 3 years of related experience or a 2-year college degree with 4 or more years of related experience
  • Proficient in Windows and company-approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques
  • Understanding of health department rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of liquor laws and regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests
  • Strong listening and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Attend all required hotel meetings and training
  • Participate in manager on duty coverage as required
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Comply with Highgate hotel standards and regulations
  • Able to handle complex information and maintain confidentiality
  • Proactive in identifying and solving operational problems
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor

Job Duties

  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and employees
  • Supervise and manage all food and beverage personnel
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
  • Participate in food and beverage budget, forecasting, and monitor department performance
  • Monitor industry trends and take action to maintain competitive and profitable operations
  • Work with the food and beverage manager to keep informed of issues
  • Coordinate and monitor all phases of loss prevention in the food and beverage department
  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual inventories and submit inventory reports
  • Organize and conduct department meetings regularly
  • Monitor quality of service and product
  • Cooperate in menu planning and preparation
  • Ensure timely purchase of food and beverage items within budget
  • Oversee operations of the employee cafeteria
  • Ensure compliance with all local liquor laws and health and sanitation regulations
  • Ensure departmental compliance with standard operating procedures
  • Ensure training on standard operating procedures, report preparation, and technical job tasks
  • Attend and conduct departmental and hotel training
  • Interview candidates and follow hiring standards
  • Conduct and attend all required meetings including pre- and post-convention meetings
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
