Job Requirements
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
- Ability to sustain considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 40 pounds
- Must have salary sent to a financial institution by direct deposit/electronic funds transfer
- Must walk or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Four-year college degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or Business Administration with two years of experience preferred or two-year college degree with four years of experience in the field
- Must speak, write, read and understand English
- Must be able to pass a base background check and a position of trust check from Office of Personnel Management
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of DOD, Navy Food and Beverage, and Rations in Kind (RIK) policies and administrative practices
- Skill in applying management principles to small to medium sized food service facilities
- Experience with pizza/deli operations, salad bars, beverage services, and catering
- Ability to assess patron needs, cost targets, and operational policies
- Experience evaluating contracted services
- Minimum three years experience managing feeding facilities
- Certification through Safe.Serve manager program within one year of hire
- Proficient in English communication including writing and reading
- Ability to prepare correspondence and spreadsheets for command and headquarters
- Ability to pass base background and trust checks
Job Duties
- Use initiative, judgment and originality in food and beverage planning, merchandising and control
- Develop supplements, procedures and operating instructions for staff evaluation
- Take corrective action to ensure data accuracy and system effectiveness
- Promote efficiency using organizational and budgetary guidelines and internal controls
- Ensure training programs educate employees on food handling and duties
- Supervise staff performance and ensure personnel paperwork is complete and timely
- Work with other departments, vendors and committees to ensure responsive food service programs
- Maintain facility and equipment in good working order
- Identify and correct safety, sanitation and security deficiencies
- Apply financial and accounting knowledge for sound fiscal policy
- Manage Rations and Kind (RIK) program, ensure compliance with standards and proper paperwork
- Ensure proper military protocol and decorum
- Promote and publicize programs and services cost-effectively
- Represent the food and beverage activity at conferences and negotiations
- Perform other assigned duties as required
