Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years of management experience in a food service setting
- Serve Safe certification or obtain within 90 days of hire
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- ability to use Microsoft Office software
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- physical ability to lift 40-50 pounds and stand for long durations
- ability to work flexible hours including some weekends
- willingness to follow emergency procedures
- customer service experience
- ability to manage and train staff
- ability to create and plan menus
Job Qualifications
- Degree in Culinary Arts preferred
- 3 to 5 years previous experience in food production or management
- Serve Safe certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- basic knowledge of food preparation procedures
- understanding of dining room service etiquette
- familiarity with Health Department regulations
- basic Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

Job Duties
- Responsible for the overall financial and operational functions related to dining room service and culinary operations
- creates and plans weekly menus for IL communities while following dietitian-approved menus for AL and MC communities
- ensures compliance with federal, state, and local sanitation regulations
- maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas
- conducts routine safety and sanitation inspections and communicates action items to leadership
- demonstrates attention to detail regarding food quality, presentation, and dining environment standards
- develops and maintains food service quality objectives and standards
- builds and maintains relationships with community administrative teams and other communities
- prepares monthly food service reports
- manages food and supply expenses within budget
- places orders for food and supplies through authorized vendors
- completes physical inventories prior to ordering
- plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs food and beverage operations
- makes reports and recommendations to executive leadership about operations
- maintains daily logs for equipment and food temperatures
- assures kitchen cleanliness and safety standards
- supports community sales efforts with catering for marketing and events
- follows all emergency procedures and safety policies
- ensures 72-hour emergency food and water supply
- exhibits enthusiasm for working with seniors
- displays patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition
- promotes community values positively
- maintains confidentiality of resident care information
- manages staffing and labor costs including overtime
- recruits, trains and evaluates culinary staff
- oversees dining room services provider's contract responsibilities
- manages culinary services calendar including holidays and special events
