Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- serve safe certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- minimum 3 years experience in food service management
- knowledge of federal, state and local food safety regulations
- ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications
- Degree in Culinary Arts preferred
- 3 to 5 years previous experience in food production and management
- Serve Safe certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- basic knowledge of food preparation procedures, dining room service etiquette, and health department regulations
- proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and internet research
- strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills
- self-motivated with minimal supervision

Job Duties
- Responsible for the overall financial and operational functions related to dining room service and culinary operations
- creates and plans weekly menus for the IL Communities following dietitian-approved menus for AL and MC communities
- ensures compliance with federal, state, and local sanitation regulations
- maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas
- conducts routine safety and sanitation inspections using self-inspection documents and communicates action items to management
- demonstrates attention to detail for food quality, presentation, and dining room environment
- develops and maintains food service quality, objectives, and standards
- fosters good working relationships with community administrative team and networks with other communities
- prepares monthly food service reports
- manages food and supply expenses to budget or forecast
- places orders for food and supplies through authorized vendors
- completes physical inventories prior to ordering
- plans, implements, and evaluates food and beverage services operations
- reports and recommends to Executive Director concerning food service operations
- maintains daily logs of food safety related temperatures
- assures kitchen cleanliness and safety
- supports community sales efforts with catering
- follows emergency and safety procedures
- ensures emergency food, water, and disposable supplies are maintained
- exhibits enthusiasm for working with seniors
- displays a positive, team-oriented attitude
- promotes community values and maintains confidentiality
- manages staffing and labor costs including overtime
- recruits, trains, and evaluates culinary staff
- oversees dining room service provider compliance
- manages culinary services calendar for holidays and special events
- performs other duties as necessary and appropriate
