Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years experience in food production or culinary management
  • Serve Safe certification or attain certification within 90 days of hire
  • Basic culinary knowledge and dining service etiquette
  • Understanding of health and sanitation regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Physical ability to perform kitchen tasks including lifting and standing
  • Ability to work in hot and humid environments
  • Commitment to quality and customer service
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information

Job Qualifications

  • Degree in Culinary Arts preferred
  • 3 to 5 years previous experience in food production or management
  • Must have a Serve Safe certification or become certified within 90 days of hire date
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation procedures and dining room service etiquette
  • Familiarity with Health Department regulations and guidelines
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and internet search tools
  • Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently

  • Physically able to perform kitchen duties including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods
  • Ability to evaluate food quality through taste and smell

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the overall financial and operational functions related to dining room service and culinary operations
  • Creates and plans weekly menus for the IL communities following dietitian approved menus for AL and MC communities
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local sanitation regulations
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas
  • Conducts routine safety and sanitation inspections and communicates action items to relevant community leaders
  • Develops and maintains food service quality, objectives, and standards
  • Manages departmental staffing and labor costs including recruiting, training, and evaluation of culinary staff
