Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a credited sanitation course and maintain certification
  • Knowledge of district requirements and child nutrition programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to teach basic food preparation
  • Ability to manage personnel and maintain confidentiality
  • Computer and money counting skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • One year of school food service experience preferred
  • Completion of Manager-In-Training course preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Texas Association of School Nutrition Level 2 certification preferred
  • Knowledge of district requirements, child nutrition programs, quantity food preparation
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Computer and money counting skills
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Completion of Mesquite Food and Nutrition Services Manager-In-Training course preferred
  • One year of school food service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide supervision, training, and management for campus food service operations
  • Ensure appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served
  • Comply with Food and Nutrition Services programs as well as local, state, and federal regulations
  • Plan, order, and manage food and supplies using software
  • Maintain work and cleaning schedules, production records, and financial records
  • Handle money with integrity, including deposits and point of sale management
  • Train and evaluate Nutrition Specialists and substitutes
  • Conduct operational and production management daily
  • Enforce safety, health, and food quality standards
  • Maintain food cost within set guidelines
  • Supervise daily kitchen and cafeteria activities and maintain a safe environment
  • Create work orders and log maintenance on equipment
  • Perform HACCP checklists biannually
  • Follow attendance and timekeeping policies
  • Implement nutrition standards guided by the dietitian
  • Provide feedback and resolve conflicts respectfully
  • Ensure consistent and timely attendance
  • Adhere to MISD and FNS guidelines and policies
