Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of credited sanitation course with current certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to manage and train personnel
  • Familiarity with Child Nutrition Programs and compliance regulations
  • Knowledge of food safety and health codes
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Computer literacy and money counting skills
  • Ability to work well with others and maintain positive morale
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Available for consistent and timely attendance
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and perform physical tasks required by job
  • Willingness to work in environments with temperature extremes and noise
  • Adherence to safety and cleanliness standards
  • Ability to follow chain of command and enforce policies
  • Available to work full-time hours

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of credited sanitation course with current certification
  • Texas Association of School Nutrition Level 2 certification preferred
  • Knowledge of Child Nutrition Programs and food service equipment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to teach basic food preparation
  • Personnel management skills
  • Computer and money handling skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Completion of Food and Nutrition Services Manager-In-Training course preferred
  • One year of school food service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide supervision and training for campus food service operations
  • Ensure appropriate quantity of food is prepared and served
  • Comply with all food and nutrition service policies and regulations
  • Plan, order, and manage inventory of food and supplies using software
  • Maintain work and cleaning schedules, production, and financial records
  • Handle monetary transactions accurately and with integrity
  • Train and evaluate Nutrition Specialists and substitute staff
  • Manage daily operational and production activities
  • Maintain safe and hazard-free working environment
  • Ensure food safety and quality per departmental and health standards
  • Maintain food cost within set guidelines
  • Supervise Point of Sale operations and employee attendance
  • Create work orders and log maintenance for kitchen equipment
  • Perform HACCP checklist twice annually
  • Resolve conflicts and provide positive feedback
  • Adhere to MISD and Food Nutrition Services guidelines
  • Evaluate employee performance biannually
  • Ensure professional development through required training hours
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration or supervisor
