Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of credited sanitation course and maintain certification
  • Knowledge of District requirements and Child Nutrition Programs
  • Ability to perform verbal and written communication effectively
  • Ability to teach basic food preparation to others
  • Demonstrate ability to manage personnel and maintain confidentiality
  • Computer and money counting skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Self-motivation and self-direction
  • One year of school food service experience preferred
  • Completion of Manager-In-Training course preferred
  • Available to start as soon as possible

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of credited sanitation course with certification
  • Texas Association of School Nutrition certification Level 2 preferred
  • Knowledge of District requirements and Child Nutrition Programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to teach basic food preparation information
  • Demonstrated ability to manage personnel and maintain confidentiality
  • Computer and money counting skills
  • Ability to foster teamwork and positive work relationships
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Completion of Mesquite Food and Nutrition Services Manager-In-Training course preferred
  • One year of school food service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan order food and supplies using current software system
  • Maintain work and cleaning schedules for nutrition specialists, production records, financial records
  • Handle monies with integrity, ensure accuracy of deposits
  • Train and evaluate nutrition specialists and substitutes
  • Conduct operational and production management daily
  • Order food in appropriate amounts to avoid shortages
  • Maintain records on food and supplies received and used
  • Direct daily kitchen and cafeteria activities ensuring safety and compliance
  • Ensure food safety, quality and adherence to health codes
  • Maintain serving schedules as per menu specifications
  • Manage food cost within set guidelines
  • Supervise and train employees promoting efficiency and morale
  • Create work orders and maintain equipment maintenance logs
  • Perform HACCP checklist twice yearly
  • Recommend equipment replacement as needed
  • Supervise and train employees on Point of Sale system
  • Enforce attendance policy and manage timekeeping
  • Follow dietitian guidelines to meet nutrition standards
  • Document professional standard hours
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to MISD and FNS guidelines and policies
  • Provide and receive feedback positively
  • Resolve conflicts respectfully
  • Maintain consistent attendance
  • Take responsibility for actions and results
