Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a credited sanitation course
  • Food safety certification or ability to maintain certification
  • Knowledge of district requirements and child nutrition programs
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to teach basic food preparation
  • Ability to manage personnel and maintain confidentiality
  • Computer and money handling skills
  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and directed
  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting up to 35 pounds and standing for long periods
  • Available for consistent and timely attendance
  • Adherence to policies and procedures
  • Completion of professional standard hours as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a credited sanitation course with maintained certification
  • Preferred Texas Association of School Nutrition certification Level 2
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to teach basic food preparation
  • Ability to manage personnel confidentially
  • Computer and money counting skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Preferred completion of Mesquite Food and Nutrition Services Manager-In-Training course
  • Preferred one year of school food service experience

Job Duties

  • Provide supervision and training for campus food service operations
  • Ensure appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal food service regulations
  • Plan, order, and manage food and supplies using software systems
  • Maintain cleaning schedules, production records, and financial records
  • Handle monetary transactions with integrity and accuracy
  • Train and evaluate nutrition specialists and substitutes
  • Enforce all food safety and health regulations during food production
  • Maintain food storage and serving schedules according to menu specifications
  • Manage and maintain kitchen equipment and perform HACCP checklist reviews
  • Supervise employees to ensure efficiency, morale, and teamwork
  • Follow attendance policies and enforce district guidelines
  • Resolve conflicts respectfully and promote a positive work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration or supervisor
