Job Requirements
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- must possess sight and hearing senses or use prosthetics that enable these functions adequately
- must meet general health requirements set by Facility policies which may include medical and physical examinations
- must be able to lift a minimum of 5 pounds and up to 35 pounds periodically or as needed
- possess ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism
- maintain care and appearance of housekeeping areas
- perform regular inspections for sanitation, order, safety and proper task performance
- willing to seek out new methods and principles and integrate them
- able to follow instructions on mixing cleaning compounds and relate resident information

Job Duties
- Ensure that work and cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical
- report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be
- coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments
- adhere to all HIPAA requirements
- participate and assist in department meetings, studies, and projects as directed
- attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs
- follow established fire safety policies and procedures
- use safety equipment and supplies when lifting or moving heavy objects
- maintain assigned work areas in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner
- follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions
- report all hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisor
- ensure established infection control and universal precautions are maintained
- dispose of refuse daily according to sanitation procedures
- coordinate routine and terminal isolation procedures with nursing service
- maintain housekeeping supplies in utility and janitorial closets
- report supply needs and lighting issues to supervisor
- clean and properly store equipment at the end of the shift
- perform day-to-day housekeeping functions
- clean and sanitize ashtrays daily
- clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, and heating/cooling units
- clean, wash, sanitize, and polish bathroom fixtures
- clean windows and mirrors
- clean floors including sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting
- clean carpets through vacuuming, shampooing, and deodorizing
- clean walls and ceilings by washing, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing
- remove dirt, dust, grease, film from surfaces
- clean hallways, stairways, and elevators
- turn in all found articles to supervisor
