Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions
  • ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • ability to maintain supplies, equipment, and housekeeping areas with regular inspections
  • willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel
  • ability to handle residents regardless of maturity level
  • openness to seek out and accept new methods and incorporate them
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions regarding cleaning compounds and procedures
  • ability to communicate effectively about emergency situations

Job Qualifications

  • No prior experience necessary
  • on-the-job training provided
  • a minimum of one year experience in housekeeping in a nursing home or related medical facility preferred
  • ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions
  • tact in dealing with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and public
  • ability to maintain housekeeping supplies and perform inspections
  • willingness to work harmoniously with others
  • ability to accept new methods and practices
  • ability to communicate effectively in emergency situations

Job Duties

  • Ensure residents' rooms are neat, clean and free from odor
  • wet mop floors daily
  • shampoo and extract carpets as per schedule
  • buff floors
  • attend to spills immediately
  • empty trash liners and clean containers
  • clean bed and rails with disinfectant
  • clean all countertops, windowsills, bedside tables, furniture and over the bed
  • strip, seal and refinish floors as per schedule
  • clean floor edges and corners to prevent build-up
  • clean windows and mirrors
  • clean personal items, pictures, decorations, flowers, etc.
  • demonstrate correct safety techniques
  • contribute to effective communication and pleasant working conditions
  • comply with privacy practices and protect residents' health information
  • perform other duties assigned by managerial team
