Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Ability to understand and communicate orally and in writing in English
Basic knowledge of safety, housekeeping procedures, and operation of cleaning equipment
Abides by safety procedures when handling hazardous chemicals
Trustworthy and dependable
Willing to accept suggestions
Ability to cooperate with others
Ability to organize work and make decisions independently
Maintains high personal cleanliness and hygiene
Neat and well-groomed in appearance
Flexible availability to meet department cleaning needs
Demonstrates sincere desire to work with elderly individuals
Completion of required TB test or chest x-ray

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

Performs housekeeping duties in all various areas of the community as assigned
Assists with the daily cleaning of Gorham Glen rooms including vacuuming, dusting furniture and woodwork, and cleaning bathrooms
Assists with the weekly cleaning of Bryant Ridge rooms including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning kitchenette and bathroom, and washing floors
Assists with the bi-weekly cleaning of Sego Heights apartments including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning kitchen and bathroom, and washing floors
Provides resident laundry services biweekly in Sego Heights
Assists with the daily cleaning of Haven rooms, common areas, and dining room floor
Maintains records of scheduled cleanings and adheres to check off sheets
Checks and completes daily job assignments and communicates with supervisor for additional tasks
Keeps cleaning carts stocked and organized
Maintains housekeeping supplies and restocks as needed
Makes beds and changes bed linens
Flips and turns mattresses according to policy
Moves furniture as needed for cleaning
Distributes daily newspapers
Cleans areas such as Beauty Salon, Exam Room, Massage Therapy, Rehab department, and Fitness Center
Cleans public bathrooms
Empties waste bins and recyclables
Cleans common areas including elevators, stairwells, hallways, parlors, kitchens, dining rooms, serveries, living rooms, activity rooms, and staff offices
Performs emergency cleanup duties
Ensures work areas are clean, dry, and safe for residents and staff
Works designated hours for appropriate housekeeping coverage and may fill in as backup
Develops effective working relationships with residents, families, staff, volunteers, and the public
Meets continuous quality improvement standards
Floats to Prairie Point or assists Laundry Worker as needed
Vacuums and shampoos carpets using industrial machines
Responds to minor maintenance repairs
Sets up for in-services and meetings
Assists with project work and deep cleans
Assists with resident move-ins and room switches
Serves on committees
Attends and completes required in-services and continuing education
