Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food service or kitchen operations

Job Duties

  • Lead staff in the preparation, serving and cooking of food based on set menus
  • estimate food preparation amounts and adjust recipes to meet meal requirements
  • ensure prepared foods meet quality standards for flavor, appearance and temperature
  • inspect food items and work areas to prevent cross contamination
  • load and transport food and beverage items to other sites as needed
  • maintain inventory of food and supplies
  • order food and supplies from vendors
  • clean utensils, equipment and food preparation areas
  • assist in reconciling payments for food items
  • oversee kitchen staff and working environment for safety and efficiency
  • prepare food items for on-site or remote locations
  • prepare documentation and reports for compliance
  • check in food and supplies for quality and quantity
  • serve a la carte items to meet nutritional requirements
  • use proper body mechanics and cleaning procedures
  • assist other personnel
  • respond to inquiries from students, staff and public
