Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required
  • two years of relevant work experience with infants and/or toddlers
  • knowledge of health department standards regarding food preparation and cleanliness
  • ability to provide care to children from birth to 3 1/2 years
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • ability to work as a team player
  • ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
  • maintain valid driver’s license with good driving record and insurance
  • work in a non-smoking area

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • previous experience with infants and/or toddlers
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • knowledge of Health Department standards regarding food preparation, food storage, and cleanliness
  • oral and written communication skills
  • ability to maintain confidentiality and objectivity
  • demonstrated organizational skills
  • ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • ability to work as part of a team and assist other employees
  • CDA (Infant Toddler Endorsement) preferred
  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
  • previous Early Head Start experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Prep and serve meals according to menu and number of persons to be served
  • assist with kitchen operations as needed
  • maintain cleanliness of kitchen area, including washing dishes and cleaning counters
  • relieve teachers during break periods and serve as a classroom substitute as needed
  • maintain and update inventory of food, supplies and equipment
  • assist with reporting kitchen information and maintaining records such as attendance and meal counts
  • comply with all health department and Porter-Leath requirements regarding food preparation and cleanliness
