Job Requirements
- Have two years of experience in food preparation on a quantity basis
- Successful completion of an approved cook training course may substitute for one year of experience
- Ability to work full-time 37.5 hours per week
- Availability to work the first shift from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday through Friday
- Ability to lift moderate to heavy weights
- Good physical stamina and agility
- Free from communicable diseases
- Ability to perform duties independently
- Comply with health and safety standards in food service
Job Qualifications
- Two years of experience in the preparation of food on a quantity basis
- Successful completion of a cook training course may substitute for one year of experience
- Experience with large volume food production in a school cafeteria or similar setting
- Experience independently performing tasks including ordering, inventory, and completion of daily production records
- Experience using institutional food service equipment
- Experience in a supervisory role managing staff and kitchen workflow
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Possession of or ability to acquire food safety certification
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of foods including special diets
- Operate various types of cooking equipment such as stoves, ovens, steam cookers, mixing machines, choppers
- Clean kitchen areas and equipment
- Rotate stock on a regular basis
- Assist with the ordering of food and supplies
- Inspect food received
- Serve food or assist in serving
- Prepare production records
- Perform related duties as required
