Job Requirements

  • Must have two years of experience in food preparation on a quantity basis
  • must have reliable transportation for travel to multiple school sites
  • required to have or obtain ServSafe Certification within 60 days of hire
  • must have adequate physical strength, stamina, agility, and sensory acuity
  • must be free from communicable diseases
  • must be available to work full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • must meet minimum qualifications by the job closing date

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in the preparation of food on a quantity basis
  • successful completion of a cook training course under the auspices of state or federal apprentice training bureaus may be substituted for one year of experience
  • experience in preparation and serving of complete daily meals in a large scale institutional or commercial setting preferred
  • experience using institutional food service cooking equipment preferred
  • experience following food safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures preferred
  • experience using basic computer software systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email preferred
  • ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days upon hiring

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks a wide variety of foods including special diets
  • operates various types of cooking equipment such as stoves, ovens, steam cookers, mixing machines, choppers
  • cleans kitchen areas and equipment
  • rotates stock on a regular basis
  • assists with the ordering of food and supplies
  • inspects food received
  • may serve food or assist in serving
  • may prepare production records
