Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, software, systems or aerospace engineering or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in related industry including system or flight testing
  • strong computer skills and proficiency with office software and productivity tools
  • understanding of major aircraft sub-systems and avionics functionality
  • strong communication skills including documentation and verbal direction during tests
  • ability to analyze large data sets using MATLAB or Excel
  • ability to develop ad-hoc tests to troubleshoot failures
  • willing to travel about 10 to 30 percent within and outside the continental U.S.
  • able to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • U.S. citizenship required due to ITAR compliance
  • ability to obtain security clearance
  • able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
  • able to stand or sit for long periods
  • able to lift and move cases up to 50 pounds
  • frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers and phones

Job Qualifications

  • minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in related industry including system or flight tests
  • strong computer skills and proficiency with office software and productivity tools
  • understanding of the functionality of major aircraft sub-systems and avionics
  • strong communication skills including documenting test plans, procedures and reports
  • ability to verbally direct UAV operators and observers during flight tests
  • capable of capturing system test requirements and recording test failures
  • skilled in analyzing large data sets using software tools like MATLAB or Excel
  • able to develop ad-hoc tests to troubleshoot test failures
  • willingness to travel within and outside the continental U.S. about 10 to 30 percent
  • able to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • preferred advanced degree in related engineering field
  • experience as a pilot or aircrew member is beneficial
  • ability to work with product development engineers to derive test requirements based on product specifications and modifications
  • effective problem-solving and analytical skills
  • strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well across disciplines

Job Duties

  • Develop system test plans for small unmanned air vehicles and missiles
  • execute simulator and flight tests
  • document test results
  • assist the flight test director during flight tests
  • determine and communicate flight test objectives
  • develop test cards that meet flight test objectives
  • review system requirement documents to ensure requirements are concise and testable
  • participate in flight readiness reviews, test briefs, and post-test debriefs
  • ensure test assets are prepared to support testing including configuration of hardware and software
  • process and analyze test data to determine results
  • capture test activities and fill in test data sheets
  • transfer telemetry files to the network
  • document test activities in reports
  • enter test failures or anomalies in issue tracking system database
  • resolve a wide range of issues creatively
  • work on problems of diverse scope requiring data analysis and evaluation
  • demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for solutions
  • perform other duties as assigned
